Christmas Market in Belfast

The Northern Ireland’s capital’s habits are very similar to the British traditions. Here also Santa Claus or Winter Father puts presents into the socks and the Christmas menu are like in England too. Moreover Northern Irish people start preparation more weeks before Christmas, for example the preparation of Plum Pudding and Mince Pie need weeks. Irish people are deeply Catholics, so they also have Christmas tree; moreover evergreens have spiritual connection with winter equinox. The official holiday start is 13 December here, this is “Little Christmas”. In this time decorating is in full swing.

Irish people naturally go to midnight mass, but before they leave the house, they leave a glass of milk or whiskey on the table for Santa, and carrot for reindeer’s. Real fun naturally starts on 25 December until 12 January.

Belfast Christmas markets are very similar to the British ones. These events are also beautiful with amazing light decorations, and goods are really fantastic; Christmas decorations, tiny souvenirs, craft things and delicious foods welcome visitors.

Where are they exactly? The most popular Christmas market in the Northern Irish capital is Christmas Continental Market near to City Hall. Besides the beautiful products, children can meet with Santa Claus, even they can write letters to him and put it into his own mailbox, and Santa will answer for every letter until 18 December.

Celebrate in Northern Ireland! Have a great holiday!
